hokey…thought it was time i wrote something on my blog before all the excitement, rush and frustration of my wedding planning fizzles out…the date will be 2-8-2008…i’m marrying my best friend and lover of 7 years … 29-7-2001 was when he asked me to be his gf and it’s been a wonderful journey of ups and downs for us these 7 years…we hope to make more memories in the years to come…
the engagement was on 24-6-2007 in Sitiawan…we opted for a traditional punjabi ceremony since both families are relatively traditional…so he didn’t have to get down on his knees etc…=)
on 7-12-2007 we had our ROM in Seremban.. a simple lunch reception was held afterwards at Allson Klana with close friends and immediate family members attending.
now i am counting the days to our anand karaj (wedding ceremony)..59 days to go…thats less than 2 months away…most preliminary preparations have been made and my wonderful family n husband is helping me cope with the planning and preparations in Malaysia while i’m here in Sudan..
i’ve managed to decide on the outifts that i’ll be wearing… no easy task coz i had to decide n purchase them in less than a week…as i am super duper fickle, i still wonder if i made the right choices…i’m sure i did, but it still bothers me.. miss vain pot!!
the venues have been booked and currently we are trying to finalize the caterers, entertainment, etc…my invitations were printed last week and look exactly the way i’d imagined it…simple yet elegant..heheh..so far so good..
in the mean time, i’ve been trying to lead a healthy lifestyle.. need to lose some kilos for the wedding…it’s been hard to do that due to the workload i have here.. end up eating so much junk n no time for exercise…sigh…need to take it more seriously for the next 2 mths…
i’ve decided that i’ll blog down my feelings throughout this whole experience on a weekly basis. so will write again on 12/6/08

good for me… im getting a break from my own cooking =) those who have tasted my cooking will understand y!
we had grilled kharouf, the long tailed lamb that we get here in sudan… totally delicious, with shaata (spicy sauce that tastes like nando’s peri peri sauce), lamb ribs, roast chicken and for dessert, mozarella assal (honey & cheese on freshly baked bread)….yummmyyy!!!!
Im in a bit of dilemma now… all the Bachelors (thats what we single status persons here are referred as) are requesting for a "chapati party"! none of them have the slightest notion of how bad a cook i am… they’ve apparently smelt my cooking from outside my room and are all now craving for chapati with dhall!!!!wwwwaaaahhhh!!!how now??? well, i’ve been left with no choice..Will plan for a gathering once i return from my trip back to kl..the outcome?? i just hope no one falls ill =)

I feel like it was just days ago when i accepted the offer to be transferred to Sudan and now i’m here in this biggest african country. I arrived in Khartoum, Sudan on Thursday, 28 June 2007.
Sudan’s capital city, Khartoum, translates as "Elephant’s Trunk". The name describes the shape of the Nile (see picture below) where the Blue and the White Nile Rivers unite to form the single Nile River that flows northward into Egypt.

My expectation from this posting? At first it was only to save some money for my wedding and possibly an early retirement. But now, I hope to bring back with me a whole lot of sweet memories and enriching experiences as well.
I will never again view Malaysia as I used to. Frankly, there are many things in life that I’ve taken for granted. But seeing the conditions faced by the people of Sudan, I thank god that my homeland is Malaysia.
